Travel in Southeast Asia, you choose: Indonesia, Vietnam, or Thailand?

We can take you to experience a whole lot of amazing things. Here’s a taste of a region whose landscapes put those in Avatar to shame

We want to take you around Southeast Asia, one of the most beautiful regions to visit from every point of view.

We love it so much that we run no fewer than 4 tours there: one in Indonesia (in Bali), two in Thailand (in the north and the south), and one in Vietnam.

On our website you can find all the details of all 4. In this article, instead, we want to give you a small preview of the awesome things you’ll see when we all set off together for Southeast Asia.

Bali Handara Gate

The Bali Handara Gate is a spectacle that only Indonesia can boast.

This traditional stone structure (because we’re not entirely sure what else to call it), built in typical Balinese style, symbolizes the passage from the outside world into the temple and plays an important role in Indonesian culture. The Gate is surrounded by lush green mountains, crater lakes, and an equatorial rainforest that create an incredible backdrop.

The structure is impressive, built mainly from dark stone, with a massive look that suddenly grabs your attention and makes this stunning landmark impossible to ignore.

And the best part, beyond simply admiring its beauty?

Maybe walking through it—a feeling that makes you feel as though you are crossing a surreal boundary between present and past.

Ayutthaya

A name that sounds like an exclamation from the script of a cheesy holiday movie: Ayutthaya, the ancient capital of the Kingdom of Siam, a place still inhabited by more than 50,000 people and home to ancient monuments so extraordinary you’ll hardly believe your eyes.

You know those monkey-filled ruins from King Louie’s world in Disney’s The Jungle Book?

Well, Ayutthaya’s historic area looks just like that, and it’s absolutely amazing!

There are loads of spectacular temples, such as Wat Phra Si Sanphet, considered the most breathtaking in the whole area. It once housed a gigantic golden Buddha statue (we’re talking about something 18 meters high!), but unfortunately it was badly damaged by a fire in the 18th century.

Thankfully, part of the monument was saved and can now be seen at Wat Phra Chetupon in modern-day Bangkok.

So, basically, Bangkok ended up with the Buddha.

And since you can never have too many king-size statues of Siddhartha, Ayutthaya is also home to Phra Mongkhon Bophit. Another colossal Buddha, this time in bronze, and this one too was damaged by the same fire that nearly destroyed Wat Phra Si Sanphet.

But this one not only survived the disaster—it also decided to stay right where it was, and it can still be admired today in Ayutthaya (in a slightly modified version following the restoration of the damaged original).

Halong Bay

Halong Bay in Vietnam is a place where nature clearly decided to show off its artistic talent, using a jade-colored sea as its canvas and scattering it with hundreds of spectacular limestone islets, all covered in lush vegetation.

Of course, it couldn’t help but be listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. And are you really going to miss out on that?

In this wonderful place we love organizing our customized cruises. Yachts, champagne, and caviar? None of that nonsense.

Instead, a lovely ride on a traditional local junk boat is something we would never give up. Oh yesssss!

And to make sure we miss nothing, during our little romantic cruise we even catch our own fish. Or at least we try, until one of those rascals finally bites.
