Safari Sto Gran Tour

How does a Sto Gran Tour trip work?

It's hard to explain
It looks like what you imagine, but then it's more.
We organize group adventure trips for people roughly between 25 and 45. So far, so good. But those cookie-cutter adventure trips make us itch. So we design ours to be more than you imagine. That way you get to live crazy, off-the-beaten-track life experiences. Sounds like hot air? Let's get practical then, geez!
Meanwhile, see where we go

A few practical things

The group's age
Self-drive
The flight
Professional team leaders
The travel spirit

The group's age
A starry sky in the forest, a hot-air balloon ride, a lion chasing you… how boring would that be alone?! But living it in a group isn't enough, you need to live it with the right group for you. That's why you'll always travel with people roughly between 25 and 45, in groups of at least 4 and at most 17. Why? Because that way the group shares the same attitude, doesn't scatter, isn't slow to move around and, above all, isn't invasive when it meets the local population.

Cursing us because you'd love to travel with us but think you're outside the age range? Write to us, maybe we can still travel together. Or, worst case, at least you can curse us in person.

OK, you've booked. What happens next?

Your personal area

Olé! Once you've booked, you unlock your base camp: your personal area. Inside you'll find the trip details, documents, payments and useful info.

You might have questions, we definitely have answers

How do I book a trip?

We'll walk you through it! First, pick a departure date and click the “book” button. That starts the sign-up process. Choose how many people to book for, any extra activities if you want to customize your trip and which airport you want to leave from. If you can't find the airport you'd like in the drop-down menu, write to us. At this stage you can also choose to take out cancellation insurance.

Once you've entered your personal details, all that's left is to confirm your booking by paying the trip deposit shown. You can do it by credit card or bank transfer.

Bam. You're officially one of us. You'll get a confirmation email with your booking summary. And if you click the “confirm” button in that same email, you activate your base camp: the personal area where you can follow how the trip is shaping up.
How do I book a trip for more than one person?

You can book the trip for up to 9 people. When you sign up, you'll be asked to enter the details of every traveler you're booking for.

You'll then pay the whole deposit in one go, by bank transfer or credit card.
How does payment work?

To confirm your booking, you'll pay a deposit of 600 or 900 euros, depending on the trip you've chosen. You can pay it by bank transfer or credit card. The remaining balance is due no later than 30 days before the departure date. You'll find the amount to pay in your personal area.
How many people are in a group?

All groups have between 6 and 17 people, the perfect number so the group doesn't get too scattered, slow to move around or invasive when meeting the local population.
How old are the travelers?

Right now the travelers on our trips are between 25 and 45 years old, a choice meant to ensure a group experience that's as consistent and harmonious as possible.
That said, we're looking into launching trips for the over-45s soon too.
How does trip cancellation work?

When you sign up you can take out a cancellation policy, which you can download as a PDF during booking. If you can no longer go, you can activate the cancellation insurance. If your reason for canceling is among those listed by the insurance, you'll get a full refund of the trip. Our staff will help you activate the policy and claim the refund from the insurance company.
Accommodation: rooms and bathrooms

Rooms can be doubles, triples or quads depending on the destination and availability. You'll only share your room with your travel mates, and the bathroom will be either private in the room or shared only with your travel mates. The accommodation for each trip is listed in the “Trip details” section.
How does the common fund work?

The common fund is a group kitty, always on top of the trip price, that's set up at the start of the trip and managed by the team leader. It can be withdrawn in local currency right at the airport or (if possible) exchanged before departure.

The common fund makes it easier to pay for group expenses like groceries, parking, tips, museum tickets or fuel. It avoids "mix-ups" (especially with change) and speeds up payments so nobody wastes time.

If there's anything left at the end of the trip, it's split and shared among all the travelers.
Allergies, intolerances and medical needs

If you have allergies or special dietary needs, you can still join our trips. When you sign up for a trip, you can tell us about your dietary or medical needs in the NOTES section.
Gear and luggage

Every traveler will find the list of gear needed for the trip in their personal area. Then, 30 days before departure, we open the WhatsApp group with all the travelers and the team leader: you can swap tips and opinions on what to pack.

For luggage, we recommend a 40L travel backpack: it's roomy, lets you move around easily in any situation (rain, sun, snow, desert…) and doesn't take up too much trunk space. Can you picture the morning battles trying to squeeze giant hard-shell suitcases into the car..?
The carry-on size is always listed in the trip details and in your personal area.
