When to go to Lapland?

A trip to Lapland means discovering a new and unique world, where icy winters become opportunities to enjoy one-of-a-kind experiences. Before venturing into this northern region, it is important to be prepared and have a clear idea of the best time to travel to Lapland.

When planning a trip north, the first essential question to ask is: “What kind of experience do I want to have?” In fact, the year in Lapland can be divided into two main experiences: the midnight sun and the northern lights. Depending on the experience you are looking for, you can identify the best time to set off on a trip to Lapland.

When to go to Lapland: traveling in winter

During the winter season, from November to March, Lapland attracts many travelers because of the northern lights and visits to Santa Claus Village.
This is the best time to spot the aurora, when daylight hours are very short and temperatures are freezing, but the experience is so incredible that no traveler is discouraged by these “details.” Watching the beautiful green and blue lights dance across the sky is something to experience at least once in a lifetime, and it can bring truly unique and unforgettable emotions. Winter is also the perfect time to try new experiences: exploring forests on a husky sled, sleeping in an igloo, or driving a snowmobile.

When to go to Lapland: traveling in spring

During the spring season, from March to June, you can witness the longest sunset ever, thanks to the phenomenon of the midnight sun. Starting in March, the weather becomes increasingly sunnier and more pleasant, making it possible to enjoy trekking and snowshoeing until late afternoon.

When to go to Lapland: traveling in summer

During the summer season, in July and August, temperatures are ideal for activities and excursions, especially for those who do not enjoy the harshness of the polar winter climate. However, there is one drawback during these months: rain, which reaches its highest intensity precisely in this period. So, to avoid getting caught in the rain and to make the most of your trip, all you have to do is leave with us!

When to go to Lapland: traveling in autumn

The autumn season, in September and October, coincides with the low season: there will be fewer travelers than in the other seasons, but the weather is highly unpredictable.
