Aaaaaah, sandy home sweet home. Our practically second home is just that beautiful. Get ready to sleep under a trillion stars in the desert, live with your underwear full of dust, and spot incredible animals that might even decide to chase us. “Holy sh*t, what did I just experience?!” is what you’ll be thinking at the end of the trip. Ladies and gentlemen: this is Epic Namibia!
For 13 days, we’ll explore the country in self-drive mode aboard 4x4 Jeeps, equipped with rooftop tents so we can sleep on comfortable mattresses instead of on the ground. During the day, we move around whenever and however we want, and when evening comes, we set up our base camp right where we are: in the middle of nowhere in the savannah. Can you imagine how amazing it would be to make a classic garlic, oil and chili pasta out here, after going all out on safari? On this Epic Group Adventure Trip, it feels like being on another planet. We start from Windhoek, the capital, then head to Etosha National Park and continue on to discover Damaraland and Twyfelfontein, all the way to the legendary Brandberg Massif, Vingerklip, and Spitzkoppe. Theeen we move on to the Skeleton Coast and Cape Cross, where smelly seals welcome us. And who’s going to stop us now? No one. So of course we make it to Swakopmund and even cross part of the Namib Desert, all the way to Solitaire and Deadvlei.
Have you ever seen a backpacking adventurer rolling around in a 50-seat coach with a private driver? Nah. Let’s say it again: we’re doing this experience in self-drive mode, which means no minibuses and no schedules to follow. It’s us (and you, if you’re in) with our hands on the wheel! This isn’t some zoo field trip, but to enjoy it you don’t need to be a seasoned traveler either. Guiding you is a Team Leader who’s also a certified safari ranger guide, an experienced professional who knows their stuff inside out. And together we get our hands dirty tackling real challenges like planning fuel stops, fixing flat tires, and managing food supplies and toilet paper. Right then, time for a big recap of some of the awesome highlights we’ll experience together:
🍌 Etosha National Park 🍌 The Vingerklip, Brandberg and Spitzkoppe mountains 🍌 The Skeleton Coast 🍌 Cape Cross 🍌 Deadvlei 🍌 Sossusvlei 🍌 Swakopmund 🍌 The Namib Desert

Start the adventure
Day 1
Our journey to Namibia begins like all the others: by plane. We leave Italy on a flight that carries our butts to Windhoek, the capital of Namibia. Let the awesomeness begin.

WINDHOEK AND OUR 4x4 VEHICLES
Day 2
We arrive in Windhoek and pick up our 4x4 vehicles with rooftop tents. We have a briefing on how these 4x4 Jeeps that will accompany us throughout the trip work: how to open the tent, how the kitchen setup works, how to change a tire, and everything else. Once we’ve understood (more or less) how it all works, we head to our tented camp, which has been Sto Gran Tour’s operational base for years.Hungry, we go eat at a typical local spot nearby. This is where we spread out the map of Namibia and go over the entire route and the organization of our adventure. The adrenaline starts pumping! We hope the night goes by quickly, tomorrow Sto Gran Viaggio in Namibia really begins.

ETOSHA NATIONAL PARK
Day 3
We need to think about meals and fuel, as we won’t come across many towns along the way. Once we’ve stocked up, we say goodbye to the city and head north, where our first stop awaits: Etosha National Park, boom!We arrive at our destination in the afternoon, enter the park, and start enjoying a first taste of the safari we’ll experience tomorrow. It will be exactly what you imagine—and beyond anything you could imagine: by your side you’ll have a Sto Gran Tour team leader who is a certified safari ranger and will introduce you to every corner and every sound of the savannah (no need to thank us, you’ve already given us your money, that’s enough). Our base inside Etosha is in a fenced area, in an awesome strategic location. In the evening, this is where the magic happens: right next to us there’s a waterhole that attracts dozens and dozens of animals. We’ll get closer to watch them come to drink, thanks to an amphitheater carved into the rock that lets us observe them in silence. First night under the stars—the real ones—of the bush.

This super awesome safari
Day 4
And here it is: our safari in Namibia! Hey, listen: this won’t be one of those soft, easy safaris where a guide drives us to the most crowded spots. We’ll be behind the wheel of our powerful 4x4s, with total freedom to roam the savannah.Together with our Safari Ranger Team Leader, you’ll explore the savannah, studying every corner to find the best wildlife sightings. We’ll spend the whole day searching for the Big Five: lions, elephants, rhinos, giraffes, and everything else the beauty of the savannah has to offer. We’ll position ourselves in the best spots, follow the tracks the animals leave behind, and look for the waterholes where they come to drink. Ahhh, how amazing!! One of the best days ever, and we’re only just getting started. We sleep in the park under what feels like a trillion stars. But first, later this evening, we won’t miss out on a night safari either (take a look at the extra activities section). At night, the big cats come alive, the savannah wakes up, and everything turns into an incredible spectacle. Goosebumps guaranteed.

DAMARALAND AND STONES
Day 5
The alarm gets us out of the tent, and after breaking camp, we enjoy the savannah waking up with a cup of coffee in hand. Today we continue our tour of Etosha National Park for another satisfying dose of safari, which is never a bad idea. Before lunch, we say goodbye to the elephants and gazelles, then head to the next stop on this great journey: we’re making our way toward some remarkable rocks. Or rather, we’re heading to the Damaraland region, which has plenty of rocks—but very special ones. We enjoy the drive and the breathtaking scenery all the way to our campsite. We set up camp and relax into the evening.

BRANDBERG AND ROCK DRAWINGS
Day 6
To give the trip a cultural boost, today we set off and head to Twyfelfontein, a truly spectacular mountain massif famous for its ancient rock paintings and engravings. These remarkable artworks are estimated to date back more than 6,000 years and have been preserved thanks to the area’s favorable climate. So let’s go and explore this open-air art gallery, recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.Today we continue to the Brandberg area, Namibia’s highest mountain massif, rising to over 2,500 meters. Located in the Namib Desert, it is renowned for the spectacular rock paintings of the San people. The region is crossed by dirt tracks and dramatic, breathtaking roads.Later on, we get back in the car and make our way to our campsite and, honestly, there are hardly any words to describe just how incredible it is. Just know that it comes with its own private stream and waterfall. We can relax with our feet in the water, maybe with a beer in hand, and enjoy this amazing place before cooking together and having dinner (hopefully not yet another plate of plain pasta).

THE SKELETON COAST, BABY
Day 7
Today involves a bit of driving, but it will be well worth it. We’re heading to the incredible Skeleton Coast. Crossing the lunar-like landscape that separates us from the shore gives us one of the most thrilling drives in the world. This stretch of coastline is the most beautiful in all of Africa, and we follow it all the way to Cape Cross, taking in the views gifted to us by the wild ocean. Once we arrive at Cape Cross, we come face to face—quite literally, since they’ll be everywhere—with a colony of one hundred thousand Cape fur seals burping, farting, and squabbling on the very same beach. Lovely. In the evening, we set up camp at a campsite near the coast and fall asleep to the sound of the waves. Ahhh, this is the life. This is Namibia.

Wrecks and Swakopmund
Day 8
The Skeleton Coast continues—good morning, rise and shine! We’re driving today, so along the way we decide to stop and see a few wrecks: ships stranded on the sand and rusting away. There must be a reason it’s called the Skeleton Coast, right?!Our great journey continues to Swakopmund, a lovely little town, small and charming. This small coastal town is one of the most pleasant spots in Namibia and will also be our base for the next two days. It’s the starting point for all the activities we’ll be doing today and tomorrow as we head out to explore the Namib Desert.Tonight we’re leaving the tents behind and sleeping in a guesthouse: after a week of camping, we’ve earned a break.

SHUT UP, TAKE MY MONEY
Day 9
We’re still in Swakopmund, and we devote the day to a range of activities that everyone can choose whether or not to join (take a look at the extra activities sheet). For example, kayaking in Walvis Bay among the seals.Quad biking and sandboarding in the desert. Or a visit to Sandwich Harbour. In Swakopmund, we basically do whatever we feel like. So if anyone wants to choose alternative activities, or just wander around town and along the coast... we’ll run into each other along the way. In the evening, we stay one more night in a guesthouse, but don’t get too used to it, because from tomorrow we go back to the good old routine.

TROPIC OF CAPRICORN
Day 10
Guess what? Today our off-road journey in Namibia picks up again! After an early wake-up call and calling on several saints, we say goodbye to the coast and head inland. First skirting, then crossing the Namib: the oldest and driest desert in the world. Wuaaaaa. The roads in Namibia are all absolutely incredible, and we’ll have hours of wonderfully enjoyable driving ahead of us. We also stop at the Tropic of Capricorn, where we try to climb onto the sign to take a damn photo that will almost certainly come out blurry and terrible. Further on, we stop in the remote little town of Solitaire for a very good reason: we try the best apple pie in Africa (probably the only one). No, seriously, it really is that good. After this off-road day in Namibia, we arrive at our campsite. We set up camp — by now we’re pros — and light the fire with a beer in hand. We enjoy the sunset with a few burps in the background, but by now we’re a group, and all inhibitions are gone.

DEADVLEI, SPEECHLESS.
Day 11
We wake up to the sun blazing through the tent. We grab a camping stove and a coffee pot and put some coffee on. We pack up camp—by now incredibly fast, as if we had lived in a tent forever—and set off to enter Deadvlei Park. After the entrance, we drive through a valley cutting across the dunes. All around us: nothing but desert and orange dunes. Incredible. But if this already feels unbelievable, get ready, because you won’t believe what you see at Deadvlei, one of the most beautiful sights in the world. It is a completely dry valley, filled with hauntingly beautiful dead trees. We climb to the top of a dune, struggling and cursing all the way until we practically become saints ourselves. We also take a look at Big Daddy, the tallest dune in all of Africa and the world. After lunch, we head back toward Windhoek, crossing the mountains and the last stretches of desert. Tonight is the last night of camping, the last night in our tent—the home that has been with us throughout this Great Journey.

We cry, we go back home.
Day 12
This Great Adventure has come to an end, and incredibly, we are safe and sound. Sad to be leaving such an amazing country, we board a flight to Italy, where we arrive the following morning, annoyed because Milan Malpensa Airport has no luggage trolley service.

Damn, what an absolutely crazy experience we had?! It was the trip you imagined, and then some. We need some time to process it.

We'll send you the program
Leave us a couple of details and the full trip program is yours.
Boring but important stuff to know
Deposit and Registration
To sign up for the trip, you need to: 🍌 Pay a deposit, which will be shown during the booking process, to confirm your spot. 🍌 The remaining balance must be paid 30 days before departure.
What payment methods are available? 🍌 You can pay by bank transfer. 🍌 You can pay by card. 🍌 You can pay for your trip in up to 12 installments with Molly.
The final cost of the trip, including any extras you select, will be shown during the booking process and in your personal area.
Flight
🍌Your flight is included in the price, with departure from Milan or Rome. 🍌 You can also depart from other airports — just select your preferred one during booking. If you can’t find the airport you want, write to us and we’ll help you. 🍌 A No-Flight option is also available. Basically, if you prefer to arrange your own flight, we’ll deduct the airfare from the trip price and you can handle your air travel independently. Then we’ll arrange to meet at the destination. 🍌 You can find your flight times in your personal area once you have completed your booking. 🍌 And who takes care of check-in? You decide! By default, you do it yourself, but if you prefer, we can take care of it for you — just select this option during booking.
Accommodation and transport
🍌 Rental vehicles: we’ll be using fully equipped 4x4 Jeeps. Each vehicle will need a driver and a co-driver from our group. Driving isn’t mandatory, but it’s an absolute blast. 🍌 Accommodation: we’ll be sleeping in rooftop tents on the Jeeps. Each Jeep has two rooftop tents, each for two people. In Swakopmund, however, we’ll spend two nights in an apartment, in double and triple rooms. 🍌 The tents are easy to set up. They come with large double beds and comfortable mattresses, plus pillows and blankets just like at home. Except you’re in the middle of the savannah. 🍌 The campsites we’ll stay at are equipped with bathrooms, showers, and electricity.
The 4x4 Jeeps will be our fully equipped homes on wheels, with all the comforts—more or less. Water tanks, air conditioning, camping gear with chairs, tables, and tableware, axes and swords (we still haven’t figured out what they’re for).
Luggage and equipment
🍌 You will be allowed one carry-on bag and one small backpack. 🍌 You will find the size and weight limits for your luggage in your personal area. 🍌 Checked baggage is not included. However, if it is not included in your airfare, you can add it in your personal area. 🍌 You will find the list of equipment to bring for the trip in your personal area. 🍌 No special technical clothing is required. Yuppie!
Extra activities
Optional activities are experiences that aren’t included in the itinerary, but that you can choose to add to personalize your trip. They’re amazing experiences, but they might not be everyone’s thing. And that’s totally fine! This way, instead of being stuck with an “all inclusive” package and paying for things you don’t even like, you have the freedom to choose.
🍌 You can book them during sign-up or later in your personal area 🍌 It’s not mandatory for the whole group to do the same activities 🍌 For those who don’t join the optional activities, there’s always a free alternative. It’s never a lesser option within the itinerary, so no one has to miss out on anything! 🍌 Whenever specific equipment is needed for an activity, it will be clearly indicated.
If you feel like there are optional activities that really excite you, we recommend booking them as soon as possible. Especially if you’re traveling in high season, they sell out very quickly. We don’t control the sales, so if spots are no longer available, unfortunately there’s nothing we can do!
There’s also a dedicated FAQ in the section “You might have questions — we definitely have answers.” Take a look!
Requirements for entry into the country
🍌 Before signing up for the trip, we recommend taking a look at any entry requirements the country may have. You can do so here by checking the Viaggiare Sicuri website: https://www.viaggiaresicuri.it/find-country/country/NAM 🍌 It will be your responsibility (yep, it’s on you!) to make sure you meet all entry requirements for the destination country or countries. Sto Gran Tour declines all responsibility in the event of refusal of entry into the country. If you have any questions at this point, just ask us anything and we’ll be happy to answer! 🍌 Any visa or government fee will be at your own expense.
Vaccinations and health
🍌 At the moment, there are no mandatory vaccinations required to travel to Namibia. 🍌 Always keep an eye on the Viaggiare Sicuri page for entry requirements: the rules may change! 🍌 We’re not doctors, so we can’t hand out medical advice left and right. Call your doctor before you leave so they can recommend any medical precautions or vaccinations you may need.
Meals
Each crew will manage its own grocery shopping, breakfasts, lunches, dinners, and meal preparation using the equipped kitchen in our 4x4 Jeep. In towns and villages, we can also eat out. 🍌 Do you have any intolerances?
🍌 Do you have any food allergies?
🍌 Are you vegetarian? Vegan? Pastafarian?! Do you only eat things that start with Z?!?
No problem! Restaurants always have a vegetarian or gluten-free option. For DIY meals, we can find everything we need at the supermarket to get organized.

Common fund
How does it work? No one enjoys traveling with stacks of local cash and doing the math on a calculator every night. So we’ll spare you the hassle: when you travel with us, it’s much simpler. Each participant, taking turns, pays the shared expenses and logs them in the SplitUp app, which at the end of the trip splits them equally among the whole group. We estimate these costs will be between €290 and €360 for this trip, depending on the number of participants.
🍌 Fuel for the vehicles. This is the main expense. 🍌 Tips for local people, firewood for the campfire. 🍌 Full coverage damage insurance for the vehicles, which costs €69. 🍌 Tour Leader’s expenses. 🍌 Park entrance fees, as they must be paid on site (Etosha, Petrified Forest, Twyfelfontein, Cape Cross, Deadvlei). About €60 total.
Pick your extra activities
Customize your itinerary!
Great idea, with us you can. You can tweak every itinerary by adding the extra activities you want to do on the trip. We've tested and approved every single one. So instead of putting up with an "all inclusive" and paying for stuff you don't like, you're free to choose.
You might have questions, we definitely have answers
Deposit, balance, and insurance
Here’s how payments work:
🍌 A deposit is due at the time of booking to confirm your spot.
🍌 The remaining balance must be paid 45 days before departure, directly in your personal area.
🍌 You can pay by bank transfer, card, or in installments. Choose whichever option is most convenient for you.
🍌 The final trip price, including any extras you select, will be shown during the booking process, in your confirmation email, and in your personal area.
🍌 Before departure, you can purchase cancellation insurance to cover the cancellation of your trip, provided the reason for cancellation falls within the covered cases listed in the insurance PDF. You can view and download this PDF during the booking process, before confirming your trip.
🍌 Purchasing the cancellation insurance we offer is not mandatory. If you feel it does not meet your needs, you are free to purchase your own policy, and we’ll still be friends and travel buddies.
🍌 Sto Gran Tour accepts no responsibility if the reason for a participant’s trip cancellation does not fall within the cases covered by the insurance.
🍌 On the other hand, medical and baggage insurance is always included in the trip price.
How air travel works
🍌 With us, your flight is always included in the trip price, departing from Milan or Rome depending on the departure date.
🍌 For an additional fee, you can choose a different departure airport, such as Catania, Naples, Bologna, London… it’s up to you. And if you can’t find your airport, just write to us.
🍌 Group members may have different flight schedules depending on airline availability and the order in which participants booked.
🍌 We’ll let you know your flight times in your personal area as soon as they’re available.
🍌 Your flight may include one or more layovers to reach the destination. If a layover is required, we’ll aim for a minimum duration of at least 3 hours whenever possible, to reduce the risk of missed connections.
🍌 Booking for two people does not automatically include seats together on the plane, as seat selection comes at an extra cost. However, you can request and add it through your personal area.
🍌 Unless otherwise stated, the flight booking does not include checked baggage. If you really want to add it, no problem! You can do so through your personal area.
🍌 If you are absent at the airport on the day of departure due to personal unforeseen circumstances, delays or cancellations of connecting flights, or delays to other means of transport, you will need to reach the destination independently with another flight at your own expense. We’ll help you find the flight, as long as you buy the first round of beers when you catch up with us.
Flight-free option
If you’d prefer to arrange your own flights, no problem! You can select the “without flights” option when you sign up. We’ll deduct the flight cost from the trip price, and that’s it. Please note:
🍌 With the “without flights” option, airport transfers are not included.
🍌 With the “without flights” option, domestic flights are still covered by us.
🍌 With the “without flights” option, we ask you to share the flight times you’d like to book so we can confirm whether they are compatible with the rest of the group.
🍌 With the “without flights” option, before purchasing your flights you must wait until the trip is confirmed. If you buy them before confirmation, we will not reimburse the airfare portion.
The Self-Drive Tour
What a pain it is when, on your trip, you have to rely on buses and drivers with standard working hours. And have you ever seen a backpacking adventurer rolling around in a 50-seat coach with a private driver? Nah. On our trips, we prefer the self-drive formula. Meaning: you plant yourself in the driver’s seat and drive, experiencing the road firsthand. You’re the one behind the wheel, if you want to be. And if you don’t, that’s fine too. There’s always a need for someone to be the navigator in the middle of the desert, put on the perfect playlist, and notice that “guys, that explosion was maybe our tire… hold on.”
🍌 Can we take turns driving? Yes. This epic trip is set up to keep driving flexible: anyone in the group can get behind the wheel, as long as they let us know in their personal area before departure.
🍌 International driving permit: an international driving permit is required to drive.
🍌 Insurance and what it covers: you’ll find all the information in the “vehicle insurance” FAQ. Easy!
🍌 Vehicle pick-up: to collect the vehicle, Sto Gran Tour provides its own credit card, so even travelers who don’t have one can still join the trip (you’re welcome).
🍌 Route and flexibility: we created the itinerary with our own hands, after testing it ourselves on the road. It’s designed to cover the coolest stops, at the right pace, with sensible breaks along the way. But it’s not set in stone: if we want to stay longer somewhere, change course, and explore a place, we decide it together as a group. That’s the beauty of self-drive!
🍌 What happens if we wreck the car or it breaks down? We won’t get arrested or end up behind bars. The vehicle is covered by insurance (see the “vehicle insurance” FAQ). In any case, the Trip Leader will handle the process by contacting the company or the local partner for assistance. And the Sto Gran Tour staff will always be connected remotely alongside the Trip Leader, 24/7. Seriously: day and night, every single day.
Vehicle insurance
In the true spirit of adventure and to enjoy a more authentic travel experience, the group will drive the rental vehicles in self-drive mode.
🍌 An extra convenience for those traveling with us: Sto Gran Tour provides its own credit card as the guarantee for the vehicle rental, assuming the required guarantee with the rental company, including in the event of any damage or additional charges. This means that even travelers who do not have a credit card can drive, and the vehicle pick-up procedures are simpler for the whole group.
🍌 Each vehicle will be covered by full Kasko insurance. The cost (a small amount), split among the participants, is included in the shared trip expenses. You can pay your share directly in your personal area before departure. We believe this is the best way to avoid significant expenses if needed and to avoid placing all the responsibility on the volunteer drivers.
🍌 If you prefer not to pay the small Kasko fee, you may choose to rent the vehicle using your own personal credit card, or to pay the rental excess/deposit required by the rental company. You will be able to select this option in your personal area.
At the time of pick-up, all participants — not only the drivers — are responsible for checking that the insurance is in place and for taking photos of the vehicle, so as to avoid any unpleasant surprises when returning it.
Types of accommodation
The tents are mounted on the roof of the jeep — and do you know why? Because this way you avoid sleeping on the ground, in contact with dirt, dust, moisture, and insects. It’s like traveling with a tiny mobile home. The rooftop tents open easily and are accessed via a sturdy ladder. Inside, you’ll find a thick mattress, pillows, sheets, and a sleeping bag. They’re truly comfortable — seeing is believing!
During the trip, we’ll also have the chance to stay in hotels and guesthouses. The accommodation setup is outlined in the section “Important (and slightly boring) things to know,” under “Accommodation.” Depending on the departure date and the specific trip, the arrangement shown on the website may differ from what is described there. For this reason, you will never see it stated that a specific room type (whether double, triple, or quadruple) is guaranteed with 100% certainty. This is simply because we often do not have full control over our suppliers’ availability. It’s important to keep in mind that, on a group trip, sharing is part of the experience: along with an unforgettable adventure, you may also end up sharing rooms and bathrooms.
If having a double room is absolutely essential for you — like, truly non-negotiable — please write to us before departure! That way we can avoid issues, misunderstandings, and headaches for both sides. Sounds fair?
Crews
For Sto Gran Viaggio, we create crews made up of 4 people. Each crew needs to coordinate to ensure the adventure goes smoothly, managing their own transport, meals, and in some cases accommodation.
The group usually includes people from all over Italy, and they are all open-minded people who love new experiences. You do not need to be an experienced traveler, nor do you need to have taken part in group trips before. And it does not matter whether you are traveling alone, with your girlfriend, or with your dad. What matters is the spirit you leave with: the desire and curiosity to come explore and experience the world. It will be what you imagine, but even more.
One month before departure, we will open the Wazzzzup group where you can start getting to know the other participants. You will find the link to the Sto Gran Gruppo in your personal area.
The Safari Team Leader
The Safari Team Leader is a specialized Sto Gran Tour professional who has studied in Africa and holds FGASA certification. Wondering what they actually do on the trip? Well, the Safari Team Leader coordinates the group throughout the journey, handling logistics and providing ongoing support while building team spirit, without being a traditional tour guide. They are not a wildlife guide, but they make sure each stage of the trip runs according to plan, while adapting to circumstances and the group’s needs. They share helpful tips about the itinerary, help manage schedules, and make day-to-day organization smoother. Basically, a lifesaver. They are the go-to person for questions, unexpected situations, and logistical needs. In short, think of them as a highly efficient Swiss Army knife who is always on top of things.

How extra activities work
You can customize your trip with extra activities, which you can choose either when you book or later on. Please note:
🍌 If an activity is canceled by the provider, you will receive a refund.
🍌 Any special equipment required for each activity will be provided on site.
🍌 You can also choose activities after booking and add them from your personal area for an extra €5.
🍌 We cannot guarantee activity availability if you add them close to your departure date.
🍌 During peak seasons, such as New Year’s and summer, we cannot guarantee activity availability unless you book them well in advance.
🍌 Activity prices may increase at the providers’ discretion.
One more thing: the activities are organized by local providers, and we at Sto Gran Tour are not responsible for changes, availability, or cancellations.
Travel itinerary and changes
Even if you’re joining an organized trip, the spirit is that of a true road trip. You can say that loud and clear! This Big Journey is the real deal. Anything can happen: unexpected events, itinerary changes, extra stops, weather-related obstacles, or more. If you were looking for a “standard” trip, well… this is not the right one. But something tells us you’re looking for adventure, just the way we like it.
🍌 The program, as well as the order of the days, may change.
🍌 Nature is in charge. No refunds will be provided for itinerary changes due to weather conditions.
🍌 Mechanical issues happen! No refunds will be provided for itinerary changes caused by mechanical problems (a tire blows, a fuse burns out, a window breaks, someone steals a side mirror… that kind of thing).
🍌 If any travel days or activities are missed due to bad weather, we will try to make them up if the group agrees to the new travel plan and only if the tour leader considers it feasible.
🍌 The layout and size of the means of transport may differ from what is indicated in the travel program due to local availability at the time of travel. In any case, we guarantee the expected standard (we’re not going to make you sleep in some dump, don’t worry!).
Group and fellow travelers
Groups usually range from 3 to 17 people, plus a Trip Leader. The exact number varies depending on the trip. The average age on our tours is generally between 25 and 45, with a few exceptions.
Our groups usually include people from all over Italy, and they’re all open-minded travelers who love new experiences. You don’t have to be an experienced traveler, and you don’t need to have joined group trips before. It doesn’t matter whether you’re traveling solo, with your girlfriend, or even with your dad. What really matters is the spirit you leave with: the desire and curiosity to explore and experience the world. It’ll be what you imagine — only more so.
About one month before departure, we’ll open the Wazzzzup group so you can start getting to know the other participants. You’ll find the link to Sto Gran Gruppo in your personal area.
We confirm and activate the trip once there are at least 4/6 participants. If we don’t reach the minimum number of participants, you can change your date free of charge to the next available departure, either for the same destination or a different one. Or you can request a full refund. So when will you know whether the trip is confirmed or not? About one month before departure, when we review the final number of participants.
P.S.
Are you cursing us out because you’d love to travel with us, but you think you’re outside the age range? Write to us — maybe we can still make it happen. And in the worst-case scenario, at least you can insult us in person.
Group confirmation
Almost all of our trips are confirmed. For groups that are still awaiting confirmation, we will send you regular updates through your personal area. If we do not reach the minimum number of participants (generally 3), you can change your date free of charge to the nearest departure, either for the same destination or a different one, or receive a full refund. For trips with only one departure date, the “Trip Status” is shown.
How much adaptability is needed
A four-star place here might still have rough towels and a gurgling drain. And a place without even a single star might serve the best dinner of the whole trip. Ratings are local, and so are the standards used to measure them. In practice, this means:
🍌 Cleanliness may sometimes fall short. Let the Trip Leader know and we’ll step in, but don’t expect a polished Riviera-style hotel.
🍌 We work directly with our local providers, without middlemen, and that helps us solve a lot of issues. That said, we don’t control other people’s timing, so please allow for some waiting now and then.
Courtesy and respect are always the foundation of exploring the world!

Imagine it is night. The only light comes from the moon and your headlamp. The darkness here is nothing like the darkness at home: it is denser, fuller, it has a sound of its own. You are in the middle of the savannah, perched on a low wall in front of a waterhole. It is cool, and you have pulled a fleece over the T-shirt that was drenched in sweat this morning. Someone has brought a beer, someone else only patience. You wait. Ten minutes, twenty, forty. Then a branch snaps somewhere off to the right. Are they coming? Oh, uh! There they are! There they are! Ssssssssh. They step forward to drink. Giant shadows, hooves and long faces. We are just a few metres away from a herd of giraffes that seem a kilometre long and take half an hour just to bend down to drink: first one leg, then the other, that neck lowering slowly as if it had to think it over. One stops, lifts its head, looks at you. Maybe. Or maybe not. But it really feels as though your eyes meet. Someone in the group whispers, “holy sh*t, guys…” and that is it. That one phrase says everything. Then they leave, just as they arrived. No one moves for a while. No one pulls out a phone, because you already know the photo would never do it justice. You stay there, head tilted back, searching for the Southern Cross, and you realise that tomorrow morning you will get behind the wheel again and it all starts over from the beginning. This great Namibia is everything you imagine, and then some.
Our documentaries
Episode 1: Namibia
This is the story of a journey through Namibia. We travel far and wide in search of the animals that inhabit this part of the world and to understand how they have adapted to such an extreme environment. All with a tent and a 4x4 jeep.
First stop on our Namibian journey in our series "Slow Travel", every Sunday on Kilimangiaro on Rai 3.
In the previous episode, our journey through Namibia began. Today the mission continues: to discover the wildlife that inhabits this part of the world and understand how it survives here. We head south, still traveling by jeep and camping in a tent.
The second chapter of the Namibian journey in the series "Slow Travel", every Sunday on Kilimangiaro on Rai 3.
This is the final chapter of the Namibian adventure. After one of the most beautiful safaris in the world, among giraffes, elephants, and lions, and after taking part in a Himba wedding, we reach the end of a simply incredible journey.
Here ends the Namibian journey of the series "Slow Travel," broadcast every Sunday on Kilimangiaro on Rai 3.

It's my second trip with StoGranTour and once again I was satisfied. I found the organization punctual and well structured, with clear directions and the peace of mind of being able to rely on the people in charge. My compliments go to our team leader, Marco Rotunno, who contributed a lot to the success of these eight days. He was engaging but never intrusive, kind, funny and always available, attentive to everyone's needs. An experience I recommend to those who love trekking and active holidays and, above all, to those who want to let themselves be surprised by a landscape, the beauty of a sunrise or a starry sky.

Lapland, hunting for the northern lights
I did the trip to Lapland organized by Sto Gran Tour (Dec–Jan) and the experience was excellent from every point of view. The itinerary was carefully planned: well-spread activities, zero downtime and the chance to truly live the essence of Lapland. From the northern lights to the husky excursions, every moment was handled with professionalism and care. Federico, our coordinator, was very knowledgeable, helpful and always ready to share fun facts about the area. I also really appreciated the punctuality and clarity of the organization: transfers, excursions and equipment always perfect. It's a trip I'd recommend to anyone who wants to experience Lapland without stress, with the reassurance of a serious organization and a level of care that really makes the difference. Sto Gran Tour passes with flying colors: an unforgettable experience.

Fantastic trip to Vietnam
Back from a fantastic trip to Vietnam with Chiara, a flawless tour leader, always present and ready to talk things through with the group for any decision to be made. Wonderful places, between the chaos of the cities and the quietest, most magical green of nature. This is my third group trip and the first with Sto Gran Tour: really well done, with excellent organization.

Sta Gran Lapland
Second trip with Sto Gran Tour and once again my expectations weren't let down! Thanks to a great group, a great team leader (Alberto) and an enchanted Lapland, even the -30° and the little mishaps turned into memories and stories to laugh about. The experiences on offer were all authentic and completely out of the comfort zone, which in my opinion is what you look for in a trip like this, a trip I'll always carry in my heart while waiting for the next one 💝

My first group trip
It was my first group trip, and I was really satisfied with the organization and with how the trip was structured! Fantastic group, and what can I say about the guide: fantastic and super active! She showed us wonderful places and told us about Iceland from the heart!

Namibia with Federica :)
I joined a trip to Namibia with Federica at the end of April 2026; besides her flawless organization, I want to praise her excellent preparation and her passion, which made this trip unforgettable. Very happy with the group of people I had the pleasure of meeting too! It was a rich trip in many ways, and what can I say about Namibia, it's undoubtedly a wonderful place!

Unforgettable Lapland
A perfect experience from every point of view! A trip lived 100% that met all my expectations! Visiting Lapland means putting yourself to the test, and I can say that without the organization, but above all without the involvement of our leader Alberto, I would have backed out. Alberto balanced every phase of our trip, staying serious while bringing a great spirit of involvement. His presence made all the difference! Every phase of our trip went smoothly, with no issues in timing, transfers or organization. Even for the little hiccups a quick and effective solution was found. I'd choose Sto Gran Tour again for my next trip with my eyes closed.

Trip to Morocco 🇲🇦
My first trip with Stograntour couldn't have gone better! I was lucky enough to live a very intimate experience, traveling with a tiny group of wonderful people. Morocco is marvelous and gave us intense emotions. The itinerary was well structured: we went from snowy mountains to the desert, crossed hills of argan trees to reach the immense ocean, and then ended up in the chaos, but also the chill, among the rooftops and gardens of Marrakech. Along the way we met fantastic people. In particular, I won't forget Jawad's welcome and generosity and the beautiful experience at his home. We were guided flawlessly by Rob, a perfect team leader: professional and passionate, but above all a true travel companion. Always smiling and helpful, sensitive and attentive. Thanks to everyone, and see you on the next adventure!

Sta Gran Review
The assistance and support I received from the organization before departure were excellent and allowed me to arrive prepared on the first day of this adventure. (Even with a few refunds, everything was clear and simple.) During the trip, the skills and practical abilities of our team leader proved to be the key to making us enjoy the experience to the fullest: from handling the unexpected to organizing the downtime, from helping build the bond between travel companions to supporting each member's individual needs. I'm coming home from this trip very satisfied and sure that, if in the future I choose to take on another similar adventure, "Sto Gran Tour" will definitely be the first travel company I'll consider.

Hakuna Matata!!!
Exciting trip to Kenya! Andrea made us live the "safari" to the fullest, cheerfully carting us from one animal to the next (he even knew the exact number of hairs on their bu...). Almost everything worked and even the hiccups were handled like a pro. Fantastic group, as only happens on unforgettable trips.

Trip to Morocco
I left for Morocco at the end of March for my second trip with Stograntour and once again it was an all-round positive experience. The real added value for me is the organization, flawless and never trite in an itinerary that always goes a bit beyond expectations, and the skill of the team leaders: Ilaria was perfect! The group worked really well too, I'm taking home a great memory and I'm already thinking about the next trip!

The best trip I've ever...
The best trip I've ever taken. Not only for the place, which is breathtaking, but for the group and our guide, Roberta, Bibi to her friends. Yes, friends, because on this trip a fantastic synergy is created, thanks not only to the personality of each participant but also to Bibi's ability to involve everyone. Bibi was an amazing guide, she looked into everything, from the restaurant to every single grain of lava, so that we could experience Iceland to the fullest, passing on her enthusiasm and sensing, in every single moment, the mood of the group and the needs of each of us.

Ring Road in Iceland
The itinerary let us discover incredible and very different landscapes, alternating waterfalls, glaciers, volcanoes, black beaches, small villages and scenery that seems to belong to another planet. The added value was the group and our coordinator Nicola Ferrucci, a real expert and in love with Iceland. Thanks to him we had unforgettable experiences and visited places off the most touristy spots… he told us legends, curiosities and anecdotes that only someone passionate who knows the place perfectly can know.

An exceptional first experience
An unforgettable experience in Vietnam: even though I left on my own, I immediately felt at ease with all the other participants (18 people). Very beautiful places, excellent organization, even considering that three days had to be rescheduled because of a typhoon that hit the central part of the country. Several bus transfers, some of them hours long, due to the shape of Vietnam itself, but we knew about it before departure. Team leader Roberto: a great person and an excellent professional. Happy I took part, I'd leave again tomorrow.

Fuerteventura in November with Bibi!!!
The tour was absolutely positive and well organized, the itinerary complete and balanced, also taking winds and tides into account. Every day had something special: a sunset, a hidden spot, a fun fact about the place... Our team leader Bibi was simply fantastic. The fact that she has lived in Fuerte for a while was certainly a big plus: it let us experience the island authentically, with a few surprising unplanned moments too. At the same time she was very professional despite being "at home", which is not a given and was much appreciated. We felt Fuerteventura a little more ours thanks to her too, as she took us by the hand to every place with sensitivity and friendliness.

Sto Gran Kenya
My first solo trip, and I couldn't have had a better guide! The legendary Cruz in the Bush took me among lions, giant animals, breathtaking sunsets and ocean waves. He knows every corner of Kenya, almost as if it were his home. If you need someone to rely on, trust him. There's never a shortage of laughs, but I won't spoil anything else: meet him in person and you won't regret it.

Best experience ever
One of the best experiences of my life! I've done plenty of group trips, but this one beat them in every way! A team leader (Cate) full of enthusiasm and passion, perfect organization and better accommodation than many others! Not to mention all the extras. Thank you, Sto Gran Tour really is a great blast, but thanks above all to our Great Team Leader 🍌

Trip to the Lofoten
It was my first group trip and it far exceeded my expectations. Besides the breathtaking landscapes, I have to say everything was organized down to the smallest detail, from the very nice and comfortable accommodation where we stayed to the itinerary and the activities chosen. Our team leader Nic was very well prepared and patient, ready to solve any hiccup and always offering us alternatives on what to do. With a group made up only of women, he managed to create a unique harmony. I recommend everyone travel with StoGranTour! See you on the next trip together ❤️

A truly memorable first trip to Japan
I joined the trip with my partner and it was our first time in Asia. The experience went beyond expectations. The itinerary was carefully planned, and credit also goes to our tour leader, Michele, who enriched every stop with clear explanations and his enthusiasm for Japanese culture. The route offered a really pleasant balance between cultural visits, discovering the local food and moments immersed in nature. The group we shared the trip with was a nice surprise too: curious, engaged people with a genuine desire to enjoy every moment. All in all, an experience I'd absolutely recommend to anyone who wants a first introduction to Japan that's well structured and engaging at the same time!

If you're thinking about it, do it!
A wonderful experience, cleverly divided into daily goals; I never imagined I could visit so many spectacular places in a single day despite the distances. Our guide Sara was marvelous, super prepared and ready to solve any problem. I recommend this experience to those traveling solo too. The places we rested in were excellent as well, both for comfort and for their position to see the aurora.

Sta Gran Cappadocia 🇹🇷
I'm writing this review just back from a fantastic trip to Turkey (Istanbul + Cappadocia), what can I say, I couldn't have asked for better! It wasn't my first time with SGT and, as I'd already seen in the past, the trip definitely lived up to my expectations. A special thanks to our super team leader Marco Rotunno, who made us experience these magical places at their best ✨🫶🏼

Japan on the rails
This had been my dream trip since I was a child, so I left with high expectations… but it still managed to exceed them. I chose StoGranTour because it seemed the tour most in line with my way of traveling, and it turned out to be the right choice. The organization was excellent: every day had a well-structured program, with the chance to make small changes based on the group's needs. Plus, at the end of the activities, we always had some free time to explore on our own. The itinerary was carefully planned, but the real added value was our guide, Michele. With his passion and enthusiasm for Japanese culture, he made every visit interesting and never heavy. His explanations were clear and full of fun facts, some tied to the world of anime and video games, creating original connections with what we were seeing. We also really appreciated his choice of restaurants: he had us try excellent food in authentic places we would hardly have found on our own. Another thing that struck me positively was the group: on these trips you never know who you'll end up sharing the experience with, but I got along really well, which made everything even more enjoyable.

Unique experiences
I've traveled with StoGranTour three times, visiting South Africa, Iceland and Morocco. On all three trips I met extremely well-prepared and knowledgeable guides, with a truly impeccable wealth of knowledge about the land, the flora and the local cultures. I warmly recommend traveling with them to anyone who wants to live a unique experience, thanks to itineraries and experiences planned down to the smallest detail and to fantastic tour leaders.

10 fantastic days in India
This was my fourth experience with Sto Gran Tour and once again I came back truly enthusiastic. A special thanks goes to our guide Chiara, a precise young woman, attentive to everyone's needs, reliable and always available, who accompanied us with professionalism, great passion and friendliness. The tour was organized impeccably: well-studied itineraries, perfect timing and a management of the trip that let us enjoy every moment without worries. I warmly recommend Sto Gran Tour to anyone looking for a serious, competent organization that brings out the best of every stop thanks to the professionalism of its guides. An experience to remember!!

Scotland tour, August '26
It lets you drive all over Scotland and its gorgeous islands, focusing on its natural wonders, which you enjoy through scenic treks: the right balance between effort and views, doable for everyone. Yes, it will rain and it will be fantastic. Our tour leader Alberto was attentive to everyone's needs, balancing the sights of the towns we visited, Edinburgh above all, with the beauty of the land and the right dose of lightness, alternating effort and breaks to recharge.

Thank you Sto Gran Tour!
My experience in Vietnam with Sto Gran Tour turned out to be magical. I loved every second of our trip and appreciated the organization and the attention to detail. The difference was certainly also made by Giulia, our team leader, from whom I learned so much: right from the start she proved very professional and knowledgeable. I'd do it again a thousand times. Thank you Sto Gran Tour!
